Making the most of the Sunshine

This glorious weather is an inspiration for outdoor life, and often our gardens are overlooked because – let’s face it – how much time do we actually spend out of doors here? If you’re planning on selling your home, a few small changes can make a big difference and create an aspirational environment for potential purchasers. Our gardens are a source of happiness, relaxation and pleasure so fingers crossed the sun shines the whole way through summer. Follow our pointers to make the most of your outdoor space and show it off to viewers.

Grass and Lawn Care
If areas are untidy due to overuse or the shade, you may want to resurface the grass, paving, sleepers or gravel. You can also put down weed killer to help clear up the messy areas, giving an instant facelift!

Fencing & Privacy
If you are looking for more privacy around the garden, a fence is an ideal and quick fix solution. Privacy is a massive selling point for potential buyers, allowing personal and extra living space without being disturbed.

Does your decking need an update or are you fed up looking at it altogether? Now you can make the decision to either completely change the materials or get rid of the whole thing. Before you finalise your choice, think about how you would replace this area and what potential buyers are looking for.

Tree & Hedge Cutting/Branch Removal
By cutting away at trees and hedges, you are letting in as much sunlight as possible and limiting the amount of shadowed areas. This will also let more light into the house itself which is a contributing factor for purchasing a home.

Remember to check with your local council if you can remove any large mature trees. If the tree can be removed, contact a tree surgeon to do the job properly and take away branches safely.

Adding some colour
A splash of colour in your garden is easy to do, as well as being effective. Call down to your local garden centre and buy bright and vibrant plants to give that fresh look. A touch of paint on a garden bench, or adding outdoor cushions and accessories can make all the difference.

Create a Sitting Area
When you have guests over, an outside sitting area is ideal perfect especially in BBQ weather. Go all Nigella and put up some lanterns and fairy lights for when it gets dark. During the day this can be a place to relax enjoy your revamped surroundings!
